Location:
Salt Spring is about 1,000 ft west of the junction
of State Hwy 50 and State Hwy 595 and 100 ft south of State Hwy 50 in Hernando
County. This site should not be confused with Salt Springs in Port Richey.
Description:
Salt Spring pool is at the head of Salt Creek that is about 40 feet in
diameter. The bottom of the pool is about 3 feet deep except for the near
vertical limestone vent some 6 feet in diameter and 170 feet deep. There
is supposed to be a stong flow at this site with visibility usually around
30 feet.
